The expanded partnership provides all Amalgamated Bank customers with expert guidance and support to navigate the financial challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic

NEW YORK, November 10, 2020 – Today, Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners, a national nonprofit and leader in worker financial health, and Amalgamated Bank (Nasdaq: AMAL), America’s socially responsible bank, announced an expanded partnership focused on connecting more Americans with the tools and guidance they need to achieve financial health.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Amalgamated Bank and Neighborhood Trust piloted a program offering free financial coaching to community members and bank customers in some of New York City’s most in-need communities. Now all of Amalgamated’s nearly 40,000 customers will be eligible for lifetime access to TrustPlus, Neighborhood Trust’s financial coaching service delivered via employers, worker benefits providers, financial institutions, and FinTechs.

“As a socially responsible bank, Amalgamated believes it’s our duty to champion financial capability and help spread the word about wonderful organizations like Neighborhood Trust,” said Charles Schembri, Director of Retail Banking. “Our customers—and all people—deserve to be informed and empowered in their financial journey. Especially during these difficult times, Amalgamated Bank is proud to support our customers through our specialized financial offerings, and by partnering with organizations like Neighborhood Trust to help ensure financial coaching is accessible to all who seek it.”

Neighborhood Trust brings nearly 25 years of experience empowering low-to-moderate-income workers across the United States to achieve their financial goals. By blending financial coaching with innovative technology solutions and actionable financial products, Neighborhood Trust helps workers make their paychecks go further.

“As our communities continue to feel the physical, emotional and financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for our services remains greater today than ever before,” said Justine Zinkin, CEO, Neighborhood Trust. “We are committed to making financial coaching accessible to anyone who needs it, and are thrilled to expand our partnership with Amalgamated Bank and bring TrustPlus to all of Amalgamated customers—and the broader ecosystem of socially responsible individuals and organizations.”

Amalgamated will offer all customers lifetime access to TrustPlus, which connects users with live financial coaches to help demystify personal finance. Bank customers will have one year to activate their accounts. TrustPlus’ service includes on-demand, one-on-one support, and expert financial guidance through phone, video or text, helping users set action-oriented financial goals and see them through. TrustPlus financial coaches provide confidential, personalized advice on pressing financial challenges, like budgeting, savings planning, credit repair, and paying down debt, and help navigating COVID relief programs, including food assistance, rental assistance and anti-eviction services.

As part of the partnership, all Amalgamated Bank customers will receive a code to access Neighborhood Trust’s TrustPlus services. If you are interested in learning more about these offerings visit mytrustplus.org or contact your Amalgamated Banker.
