30,000 New York State Drivers Now Have Access to Experts to Help Them Navigate Financial Challenges from the Coronavirus Pandemic
30,000 black car drivers now have access to TrustPlus financial coaching through Drivers Benefits, a benefits program for drivers of services such as Uber, Lyft, Via, and Vital in New York State.
Already struggling pre-pandemic because of volatile incomes, inconsistent work hours, and limited benefits, drivers and other gig workers have been among the hardest hit by the economic fallout of the pandemic, with many left struggling to survive.
Gig workers such as Uber and Lyft drivers reported a 68% decline in earnings, with nearly 3 out of 5 workers now earning less than $1,000 per month, compared to 1 in 5 before the lockdown, according to a new report from Flourish Ventures.
TrustPlus was designed to meet this difficult moment with Financial Coaches who demystify personal finance with empathy; provide expertise in managing cash, bill payment, debt management, credit repair, and government and other relief efforts; and offer convenience, with coaching support available on-demand via phone, video, or text.
TrustPlus can support drivers in making the most of the services Drivers Benefits provides, from health benefits to workers comp and legal assistance, and help drivers navigate COVID-19-related programs like Pandemic Unemployment Assistance, the student loan moratorium, and rental assistance.
We remain committed to doing all that we can to help black car drivers and other workers tackle this crisis and come out stronger and more financially secure on the other side.
